Ready for Baby! {Roseville Maternity and Newborn Photographer}

This beautiful Momma is ready any minute to welcome their little one so thought I'd share a bit of her maternity session before he arrives! As all Mom's know, heat and pregnancy are not a good combination. Gemma braved the 100 degree late afternoon, and looked fresh and beautiful in every image!

Luckily, we did part of her session at the creek for a chance to cool down!

Love these fun shots with the red swing!

Thanks for such a fun session Gemma! Can't wait to meet little C!

ASPCA California Voices For Animals Day {Sacramento Event Photographer}

Last week I had the opportunity to cover this first annual pet adoption day at the Capitol for the ASPCA. This fantastic event brought together rescue organizations, animals searching for their forever homes, and a brief address to the crowd from Assemblyman Roger Dickinson. Assemblyman Dickinson is the author of AB-2326, a bill that if successful will allow for pet adoption fees from qualified rescue organizations to be tax deductible. Assemblyman Dickinson was thanked personally by one of the four legged attendees.

Rescue organizations included the City of Sacramento's Front Street Shelter, Sacramento SPCA, Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue, PAWED, Delta Humane Society, Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary, MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue, Contra Costa Humane Society, and Red Rover. Several furry friends and a few with feathers were there with them looking for homes.

Fox 40 News Reporter Alisa Becerra covered the event, and got up close and personal with some of the animals including a pigeon who jumped onto her shoulder as if on cue during his coverage!

Best ambassador of the day was "Buddy" from the Front Street Shelter. I think he should be renamed "Baby" as he was obviously happiest when lying in someone's arms!

My favorite pics of the day though, are adoption papers being signed for Rusty, and a pic with his new Mom. Congratulations Rusty!

Fairytale Beach

Every once in a while luck plays a hand in planning a session and everything converges, resulting in the perfect day! This is one of those sessions. Gorgeous no wind 80 degree Southern California beach day, three beautiful girls, laughter, play, and make believe.

The afternoon began with bright colors, playing in the sand, goofing around, tide pools, and toes in the surf.

After a while, as the sun started to dip lower in the sky, a transformation occurred. Three princesses appeared laughing, singing and dancing as they played together.

The fairytale day ended with running through surf as the sun set. I can't wait until my next visit, but until then we can all go back in our dreams!

Mericus Adams {Sacramento Headshot Photographer}

Mericus is an actor and model represented by Johnson Talent Agency. He joined me for a headshot and portfolio session in Old Sacramento during the freezing weather that we had in early December. Mericus pulled off "being warm" convincingly and was a trooper even when wearing only a button down shirt in the 40 degree afternoon!

Mericus was up for anything, fun to have in front of the camera, and has a great spirit! You will hopefully be able to see him soon on an upcoming webseries. Best of luck Mericus!

Addilayna B Couture, ABC { Rocklin Boutique Childrens Photographer }

Here it is! The big news for 2014 and KTMoffitt Photography. I am pleased to announce that I am joining the amazing new Rocklin Children's Boutique, Addilayna B Couture, as their onsite photographer. ABC opened their doors in late October 2013, and are a welcome resource for the South Placer area! Located at 6011 Stanford Ranch Rd. Ste. 101, at the corner of Sunset and Stanford Ranch (conveniently just behind Starbucks!) 916-435-8820

If you haven't heard of the boutique yet, you must stop by! The beautiful toys and clothing are only the beginning of what they have to offer. Addilayna B Couture is proud to carry a large selection of handmade and locally sourced one of a kind items, as well as custom designed bedding and accessories.

Huge selection of toys featuring many Melissa and Doug products, as well as colorful stuffed animals, arts and craft sets, books, and more.

If that's not enough, ABC carries Happy Family organic and gluten free baby and toddler foods and too many other items to mention.

My favorite offering is the Charity Consignment program. Donations of good condition gently used children's clothing are accepted and sold in the store with 100% of the proceeds going to support the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, and the Aly and Izy Foundation.

Now, back to photography! Addilayna B Couture features a photo studio area in the store, and we will offer monthly themed mini-shoot sessions, as well as regular events including professional photography. Individual sessions can be booked directly through the store for newborn, baby and toddler portraits. Hope to see you soon!

Kind of makes you want to jump for joy, doesn't it! Photo taken at Addilayna B Couture.

And I Sent It On Its Way...

We are all on a journey. This thought smacked me in the face last January on a brisk morning as I was out for a run. As I ran along a hilltop, I watched a shiny green star shaped balloon bounce along on the breeze just above the newly sprouting earth. As I got closer the balloon wedged itself between two rocks, and swayed in place, stuck tight. Instead of running by, I stopped, freed the balloon and watched for a moment as it continued. Its journey wasn’t over, not yet anyway, and who knows where it was headed. I instagrammed my green balloon, and thought this story would be a great way to kick off a new blog.

Now procrastination and life can get in the way of a journey (and of running or other exercise for that matter!) This blog was supposed to start last year, but the balloon was stuck. Stuck fast between several rocks- family, photography, editing, "never enough time," "I'll get to it tomorrow" etc. The nice thing about a journey though, is that things happen as they are supposed to. 2013 was an amazing year full of all kinds of milestones and adventures in my photographic journey.

2014 looks to be just as promising, and now- this little blog- is part of the journey as well. Looking forward to sharing stories that go along with the photo sessions, and memories- that I capture along the way!
